Peter Knispel currently works at the Hazelmere Tennis Club as their Director of Tennis and Head Tennis Professional and has held this position since 1988. Peter is a Tennis Canada certified level 2 coach (level 3 theory) and BCRPA certified level 1 personal trainer. Peter began his coaching career in 1977 teaching a variety of Parks and Recreation programs, in 1982 he became the Assistant Tennis Professional at the Burnaby Racquets Club where he taught for six years.

Peter also has over 30 years of playing experience, this includes the Italian Pro Satellite circuit and has attained numerous provincial and national rankings at the junior and open levels of play. Peter was one of BC's top junior players, achieving a 4th place national ranking in Under 18 Doubles play, he then went on to attend Miami Dade College on tennis scholarship. After a year of US collegiate tennis, Peter returned to Vancouver to attend Capilano College and play the BC Grand Prix circuit, achieving a 13th place provincial ranking in Men's Open singles play. Peter is a NTRP 5.5 level player who continues to play competitively on occassion for Hazelmere's senior men's league team.

Peter enjoys coaching players of all ages and ability levels, his main emphasis is to have fun while helping his students to explore the tactical and technical aspects of the game, leading them to enjoy leisure competition and if desired, high performance competition.
